The Prison Pups N Pals Program brings together rescue dogs from Halifax Humane Society and inmates from Tomoka Correctional Institution Work Camp for obedience training, resulting in a more adoptable dog. The program serves a dual purpose whereby the inmates receive education on the proper training methods and care of the dogs in the hopes that they can build upon these skills; potentially leading them to a future job in animal services.  The dogs learn basic commands, obedience, are housebroken and socialized to prepare for success in their forever home.

In October 2015, Gary Adams from Natural Instinct Dog Training LLC was given the opportunity to speak to the inmates in the program, sharing with them his techniques and giving insight and knowledge into the dog training world.
